Who we’re looking for
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent
- Language proficiency: written and verbal CEFR C2 / IELTS Academic 8.0+ in all four skills
- 2 years post-certificate experience (CELTA / Trinity Cert TESOL) (and/or equivalent to 1,200 hours that should have been gained from teaching three or more of the following a life stages: Early Years aged 2 to 5 (200+hours), Primary aged 6 to 10 (400+ hours), Lower Secondary aged 11 to 14 (800+ hours), Upper Secondary aged 15 to 17 (400+ hours), University/Vocational students aged 18 to 25 (400+hours), Adults General English 18+ (800+ hours)
What you’ll do
- You will plan, prepare and teach engaging lessons tailored to different learning styles and individual needs, ensuring that all teaching meets the British Council Global Teaching Standards as well as organisational and learner expectations.
- You will closely monitor student progress, providing regular and constructive feedback to support performance and encourage learner autonomy, while maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement through active participation in professional development and performance management processes.
- You will play an active role in the wider activities of the Teaching Centre, supporting its plans and contributing to the ongoing development, evaluation and enhancement of courses, materials and services.
- You will collaborate with colleagues as part of a dynamic teaching team, attend staff meetings and contribute ideas to improve the student experience.
- You will support local marketing and promotional initiatives and help deliver outstanding customer service by communicating effectively with students and sharing relevant information.
- You will maintain high professional standards, complete all required administrative tasks accurately and on time, while consistently demonstrating the British Council’s values and behaviours in your work.
- You will build and maintain positive relationships with both customers and colleagues and act as an ambassador for the British Council’s cultural relations.
- You will ensure full compliance with safeguarding, data protection, equality, diversity and inclusion, special educational needs and disability, and health and safety policies, applying these consistently in your daily work.
