What you’ll do

• You will be a critical contributor to our backend efforts, managing day-to-day operations while identifying strategic improvements to keep our systems reliable and easy to build on.
• Design, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs in Rossum’s core platform.
• Take ownership of larger backend features or components from initial design through to production.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code with a constant focus on scalability, reliability, and security.
• Partner across departments , participating in code reviews to offer constructive guidance and collaborating with Frontend and Product teams.
• Proactively identify and address performance, reliability, and operational issues to drive technical excellence.

About the position

About the Role We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our MAT – Backend (Main Application Team). In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing and evolving the backend systems that power Rossum’s core product, supporting complex document processing workflows and data flows used by customers at scale. This role goes beyond implementation; our engineers knew that technical debt and scalability were problems we needed to solve, and we’re looking for you to help shape those solutions. You’ll work closely with Product, Frontend, and other Backend teams to deliver features that balance immediate needs with long-term maintainability.
