Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent is preferred.
- Proven experience in financial accounting, month-end close, and balance sheet control, ideally within a multinational or shared service environment.
- Sound knowledge of IFRS and/or local GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Experience of ERP systems and financial reporting tools, with the ability to interpret data and challenge inconsistencies effectively.
What you’ll do
- Month-End Close & Financial Control
- Accountable for delivering timely and accurate month-end and year-end financial reporting across up to four countries.
- Monitors close progress across the assigned countries and supports the GL Team Lead and GL Accountants in resolving queries, issues, and escalations that may affect timely and accurate reporting.
- Reviews significant movements and accounting matters arising during the close to ensure issues are appropriately addressed prior to finalization of financial results.
- Balance Sheet Review & Backward-Looking Analysis
- Responsible for reviewing balance sheet reconciliations prepared by GL Accountants, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and adequately supported.
- reviewing country results and performing variance analysis to identify key movements, budget variances, risks, and matters requiring management attention.
- investigating and supporting resolution of aged, unusual, or unresolved balance sheet items to mitigate risk.
- reviewing intercompany and other cross-entity balances, supporting timely identification and resolution of discrepancies.
- converting GL Accountants’ commentary and financial data into clear business insights, including explanations of material variances against budget.
- Audit, Compliance & Internal Controls
- Responsible for maintaining effective financial controls across the close process and key accounting activities.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal policies, and audit requirements.
- Acts as a key finance contact for internal and external audits, coordinating supporting schedules, reconciliations, and commentary.
- Supports coordination of statutory and local compliance requirements relevant to the assigned countries, working with internal teams and external providers as required.
- Reporting & Stakeholder Coordination
- Responsible for reviewing consol packs, balance sheet review summaries, and month-end commentary for management and regional finance leadership.
- Acts as a key liaison between the GL Accountant, GL Team Lead, and Business Partner, ensuring financial results are clearly understood and translated into relevant insight.
- Responsible for escalating and coordinating the resolution of accounting and reporting issues and tracking corrective actions across the assigned countries.
- Supports forecast preparation by reviewing country financials, validating trends, and highlighting risks, including those arising from unresolved balance sheet matters.
- Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Works closely with GL Accountants, the GL Team Lead, Business Partners, SSC teams, and the EMEA Finance Manager to ensure consistent and high-quality financial delivery.
- Identifies and supports improvements in close efficiency, reporting quality, and control effectiveness.
- Provides guidance and challenge on accounting treatment, reconciliation quality, and close standards across the assigned countries.
- Applies country-level financial knowledge to support the Business Partner in forecasting and reviews the reasonableness of forecast inputs.
About the position
We are hiring in Crown Czechia, Prague! We are looking for a dedicated Financial Controller who will be accountable for the timely and accurate delivery of financial reporting across up to four countries and for the quality of financial review supporting the month-end close. The role links country-focused GL Accountants with the Business Partner by reviewing balance sheet activities, interpreting financial results, and translating financial information into clear business insights. The Financial Controller analyses actual performance against budget, supports the resolution of balance sheet and reporting issues, ensures audit readiness, and contributes review and expertise to forecast preparation.
