Who we’re looking for
- CPA designation is a must.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant time at a high-growth fintech, payments, or SaaS environment where transaction volume is measured in the millions.
- Deep technical knowledge of ASC 606 and US GAAP, including multi-element arrangements, variable consideration, principal vs. agent analysis, and complex transaction environments.
- Proven experience working alongside engineering or product teams to design financial systems and define how transactions are captured and classified.
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite (required).
- Experience with multi-currency transactions, including cross-border payment flows and multi-entity consolidation.
- Technical orientation: comfortable engaging with engineering teams, understanding system architecture, and translating technical logic into accounting outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in ambiguity, move fast, and build structure where it doesn't yet exist.
What you’ll do
- Revenue accounting leadership
- Own the end-to-end revenue recognition process, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and US GAAP across Deel's full suite of products including EOR, contractor payments, global payroll, and platform fees.
- Lead the monthly and quarterly close for all revenue streams, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and review revenue-related disclosures for financial reporting and external audits.
- Partner with the Technical Accounting team to research and document accounting positions for complex, multi-element arrangements and new product launches, ensuring revenue recognition policies are applied consistently across the business.
- Build and maintain a scalable revenue accounting function capable of handling high transaction volumes across multiple currencies and jurisdictions.
- Corporate accounting and close
- Play a key role in the monthly and quarterly close process, owning validation of the most critical financial line items derived from our internal finance integration.
- Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis tied to integration-generated financial events.
- Prepare, review, and support external audit processes related to integration outputs.
- Apply US GAAP accounting knowledge to design financial events that are accurate, consistent, and audit-ready.
- Develop and maintain accounting positions for complex transaction types, including multi-currency and multi-entity flows.
- Ensure internal controls are embedded into integration design and QA processes from the ground up.
- Finance integration design and QA
- Own the design, validation, and QA of financial figures generated by Deel's internally built finance integration platform.
- Define the accounting logic that governs how financial events are structured, ensuring correctness and compliance with US GAAP before changes go live.
- Partner with engineering and product teams to validate that financial event architecture feeds data accurately into accounting systems and the general ledger.
- Identify gaps in data capture or classification and drive cross-functional solutions to close them, reducing manual reconciliation and increasing automation.
- Own the integrity of the relationship between our internal integration layer and downstream financial reporting.
- Engineering and product partnership
- Partner with engineering and product teams to design and validate the financial event architecture that feeds revenue and corporate accounting data into accounting systems.
- Define the accounting logic for new product features, ensuring financial events are structured correctly before they ship.
- Work closely with the analytics team to validate reporting outputs and build dashboards that provide real-time visibility into integration accuracy.
- Translate technical system behavior into accounting-compliant financial event design, bridging the gap between product logic and GAAP requirements.
- Collaborate with data analytics to support the development of scalable data pipelines and monitoring tools.
- FP&A and analytics collaboration
- Partner with FP&A and data analytics teams to build robust revenue forecasting models and financial reporting modules.
- Translate accounting outputs into business-readable metrics that support planning, investor reporting, and executive decision-making.
- Contribute to variance analysis and revenue commentary that connects accounting actuals to business drivers.
- Support the development of scalable data pipelines and dashboards that provide real-time visibility into revenue performance.
