Freelancers often undersell themselves to employers, because the work doesn’t fit the neat boxes of a traditional CV. But you’ve been running a tiny business — that’s more transferable than you think.
Translate, don’t list
“Various clients” means nothing to a hiring manager. Name the outcomes: the launches, the revenue, the problems solved. Pick the projects that look most like the job you want and lead with them.
Address the obvious questions
- Why full-time now? Have a genuine, forward-looking answer.
- Can you work on a team? Show collaboration, not just solo wins.
- Frame stability as something you’re choosing, not settling for.
You’re not starting over. You’re bringing a portfolio most applicants can’t — proof you can deliver without anyone holding your hand.
